Even though there are no club submissions to the Annual Photo Challenge, individual CAPA members can submit up to four images. Their theme this year is Minimalism. CAPA offers the following explanation and suggestion:
Minimalism is an effort to provoke emotional response or conveys a unique visual experience. Distractions are kept to a minimum and one is left with the essential details to convey the intended focus or emphasis by the photographer.
Simplicity is a key principle of minimalism. It challenges the photographer to look beyond the obvious for the hidden opportunity or message.
According to Jennie C. Jones “there is a poetic nature to minimalism that is about striking a balance between full and empty.”
